Woof Wear’s ground breaking range of Body Protectors represents the ultimate form of rider safety.
The range includes the revolutionary Exo which incorporates the Body Cage TM Exo Skeleton.A first of its kind, the Exo consists of a dual system designed to protect against impact and some crushing injuries, when a rider is thrown or falls from a horse. It has been extensively tested and meets BETA 2000 Level 3 and EN13158-2000 the highest safety standard available.
The Exo Concept
The concept of the Exo evolved seven years ago, after several high profile accidents in eventing, Sadly, in some cases, the riders suffered fatal crushing injuries. It was after witnessing one of these incidents, design engineer Mathew Aspray was inspired to research the possibility of a body protector with anti crushing properties. After extensive research the BodyCageTM was developed and later with the work of the Bolton Institute the EXO Skeleton was constructed from magnesium alloy which is superbly strong yet light weight.
The Exo Skeleton
The Exo Skeleton follows the contours of the human rib cage and forms a protective cage around the riders upper body. It is designed so that if a rider falls, energy is transferred around the cage and away from the point of impact, thus helping to protect the vulnerable torso area.
The Exo Body Protector
In the second stage of development, Woof Wear design team integrated the Exo Skeleton with Flexotech foam that is highly impact absorbent. Should a rider be involved in a fall, the Exo skeleton works in conjunction with the Flexotech foam to offer protection against some potentially fatal crushing injuries. The Flexotech foam also offers additional protection to the riders upper body and lower back.
